CV

From research to a working front end.

I'm Ihor Popov, a product designer. For ten years I've designed the working side of software, and lately I prototype it in code too: I write the specification, direct AI coding agents, and review every pass until the prototype behaves like the product should.

How I work now

Design with AI in the loop.

  1. Specifications agents can build from

I write UX specifications precise enough for AI coding agents, then review every pass for hierarchy, states, interaction logic and copy until the build matches the intent.

  2. A system the agents cannot drift from

Tokens, a closed component vocabulary and generated documentation, with lint checks and guard hooks that keep hard-coded styles and off-system components out of the code.

    Seen in

  3. Prototypes people can use

Working prototypes in code, Figma Make or Figma Sites, deployed for review, so teams and clients react to real states and data instead of static screens.

  4. Designing AI products, not only with AI

An AI Copilot that drafts analysis scripts, explains each step and cites its sources; a guided path from uploading code to an MCP connection for AI assistants.

Experience

AltexSoft

Product Designer, October 2021 to now

More than fifteen client, presale and internal projects in five years: fintech, legal tech, retail and e-commerce, travel and hospitality, and AI products, from proof of concept and MVP to redesigns of mature platforms and long-term support.

2026

  1. Malkai reservation workspace

Design Engineer on the elaboration of a mid-office platform for a luxury hospitality group in Oman. I prototyped the reservation workspace in code, built its token-based design system, and directed AI coding agents to turn the specification into a working front-end proof of concept.

  2. Interlace, an AI developer platform

AltexSoft's own AI developer platform. I audited its admin application, 29 scored findings in five areas, and redesigned the path from uploading code to a working IDE connection over MCP.

    Read the Interlace case
  3. AI Copilot for a data-analytics application

An AI Copilot for a desktop data-analytics application, designed by me: an assistant panel that drafts analysis scripts from a conversation, explains each step, and cites its sources. Earlier on the same product, in 2022, I mentored a junior designer through feature work.

  4. Prepaid travel certificates for a members-only travel club

Product Designer on a shipped prepaid-certificate program for a members-only travel club: the back office that defines and controls certificates, prototyped in Figma Make, and the member's path from landing page to checkout, wallet and booking.

    Read the travel certificates case
  5. Presale prototypes

Presale prototypes in Figma Make and Figma Sites that let prospective clients try their product before the project starts: a leisure-travel platform and a camping app.

2023 to 2025

  1. Retail platform and marketplaces for pawn and specialty retail

My longest engagement: two and a half years on a platform for pawn and specialty retail. I designed new point-of-sale modules from proof of concept to release, redesigned its two marketplaces for desktop and mobile, and restructured the design system so it could be implemented automatically.

    Read the marketplace case
  2. Real-time transcription for legal proceedings

Real-time transcription of legal proceedings, built on speech recognition. I led design from the proof of concept to an MVP for its two roles, the court reporter who runs the live transcript and the attorney who follows it.

2021 to 2022

  1. Investment planning for financial advisors

Investment planning for financial advisors, over almost two years. I audited the platform, rebuilt its information architecture, designed the admin, support and advisor areas, and created its design system.

  2. Internet filtering for web, mobile and desktop

An internet-filtering platform for web, mobile and desktop, over two years of discovery and support. I designed its Android app from scratch, reworked billing and subscriptions, and designed advanced filtering controls.

  3. Coaching platform for business advisers

A coaching platform for business advisers, on Windows and the web. I shaped and prioritised new features with the product owners, designed the navigation and quick actions, and mentored a junior designer.

Short engagements: wireframes for a video-guide product (2022), an icon set (2023), and requirements and wireframes for a calendar and groups feature (2023).

Client names are withheld under NDA.

Internal work

In-house products.

2022 to 2026

  1. Design system for the AltexSoft website

The design system for the AltexSoft website, from Figma tokens to coded components, built with a Figma-library designer. I audited the site, built the token system and the export to code, coded every component with its documentation, and set up guardrails so AI coding agents stay inside the system.

  2. Case-study system for the UX/UI department

The department's case-study system: light and dark deck templates on one pattern, an interview format that turns a designer's project into a case, and the case decks built with it.

  3. This site

Designed and built with AI coding agents: Astro, a token-based design system in light and dark, and an automated accessibility and visual test suite.

  4. AltexSoft's internal talent platform

A redesigned dashboard for AltexSoft's internal talent platform, with edit modes and notes.
